Barcodes and label size for a thermal printer

A thermal printer expects a PDF whose page size equals the label, not a scaled A4 sheet. In Label Kit, millimetres and DPI are set in the template.

Size and DPI

Typical ribbon widths are 58 mm, 40 mm and similar. DPI is 203, 300 or 600 — as on the printer. Changing DPI recalculates coordinates in dots; label size in mm stays the same.

Barcodes

A barcode is an element on the canvas, not a pasted image. You pick the symbology (including GS1 Data Matrix) and bind it to a data field. The module size follows the template geometry, which keeps the code readable.

A raster barcode from Word often fails at the scanner: compression and the wrong module.

From template to print

Save the template, open a batch, load data or a quantity, then Save and PDF. The file matches the ribbon; no extra crop in the printer driver.

PDF download requires a subscription. The trial includes a watermark and a cap on labels per file.
